Tailor in court for alleged assault, damage to property
Badagry – A 31-year-old tailor, Nurudeen Babalola, was on Monday charged before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly assaulting a commercial motorcycle rider, Kehinde Saka.
The accused, who resides at No. 24, Cinema Street, Ajara Dokoh, was also charged for damaging the motorcycle belonging to the complainant.
He was arraigned on a two-count charge of assault and malicious damage.
The prosecutor, Innocent Uko, told the court that the accused committed the offences on May 24 at about 3 p.m. at No. 36, Adarikoh St., Sango, Ile-Dudu in Badagry.
Uko, an inspector, noted that the accused assaulted the complainant after an argument over a transport fare.
“The accused and the complainant who happens to be a motorcycle rider started arguing about the amount to be paid when they got to the destination of the accused.

“Within a twinkle of an eye, the accused started beating the complainant by throwing blows to his head.
“As if that was not enough, he carried a stone and destroyed the head lamp, traffic indicator and protector guides of the motorcycle.
“All that was destroyed on the motorcycle are valued at N4,000,” he said.
Uko noted that the offences contravened the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The counsel to the accused, Yomi Alabi, pleaded with the court to grant him bail on liberal terms.
In his ruling, the Magistrate, Abiodun Etti, granted the accused bail in the sum of N10,000 and a surety, who must provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
Further hearing in the case has been fixed for August 28.
